Are you holding Flashcards correctly?
Flashcards are very effective teaching tools for teachers to use during classes. It can be used to test and improve the memory of the students. Through practice exercises with the flashcards, you can introduce new words or vocabulary to them.
How to properly hold the Flashcards?
Holding the flashcards can be the most basic things to do. However, ALTs would still tend not to do it properly. Do you know how to hold it the right way?
Below are some tips on how to hold the flashcards properly. Hope these tips will be helpful for you as you go along your journey as ALTs in Japan.
- Make sure not to cover your mouth or face when holding the flashcards.
The crucial part of practice word exercises is teaching the students the proper pronunciation of the words. The students will need to have a guide to imitate how the proper placement of the tongue and mouth is done when enunciating specific words.
As an ALT, you will serve as the live or actual guide in helping them achieve that right pronunciation. So, please do well!
2. Make sure that your hands or fingers are not covering the images, words or letters written on the Flashcards
When holding the flashcards, most of the times, teachers would want to hold cards that is more than they can keep holding. For this reason, the ALTs are struggling to do it resulting to placing their hands or fingers in any parts of the cards. The information written on the cards are essential to students. Preventing them to see that information would not be ideal during language learning.
