How to Eat Sushi like a Native
Sushi is one of the most famous foods in Japan and attracts lots of foreign people from different countries. Nowadays, lots of sushi restaurants opened in many countries and you can enjoy it without visiting Japan. But how many people do know about sushi etiquettes? There are some manners and rules when you eat sushi even though some of Japanese people don’t care. If you master the etiquettes, you will be able to surprise Japanese people.
1, Chopsticks or hand?
This theme is controversial, and some people say that you have to eat by hand and some people say it is not professional to touch sushi by dirty hands. Officially, both of them are completely fine. You can use your hand and chopsticks to eat Sushi. However, when you use your hand, you have to make it clean.
2, Place to put soy sauce
Most people put soy sauce on the rice part. But actually, you have to put it on the sushi topping part. This is because the shape collapses if you put it on the rice part.
3. One bite
You have to eat sushi in one bite. It is not only for sushi, but also for Japanese cuisine in general. I don’t know why but it is considered as a rude behavior in Japan.
There are a lot more manners, so if you look it up on the internet and master them, you will become a native sushi eater!!
