Don`t you think Japanese arts are beautiful ?

Japanese arts lovers are not only you.

In nineteenth century, Japanese arts fascinated many world famous artists. The artists were inspired by Japanese arts and painted their masterpieces.

Who loved Japanese arts in the world?

・Vincent Van Gogh (30 March 1853 – 29 July 1890)

Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most famous artists in the world.

He was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter and he was fascinated by Japanese arts.

This is his work,“Portrait of Père Tanguy”.

How many Japanese arts can you see there?

Yes,You can see Sakura,Mt Fuji,and Japanse women wearing kimono there !!!

・Claude Monet (14 November 1840 – 5 December 1926)

Claude monet is one of the most famous artists in the world.

He was a French painter and he was also fascinated by Japanese arts.

This is his work, “La Japonaise”.

Monet depicts his wife in a padded, heavily decorated red kimono (an uchikake) belonging to a famous Japanese actor, standing on Japanese-style tatami mat and in front of a wall decorated by Japanese uchiwa fans.
