Kawaii Culture
The word “kawaii” is now known worldwide, but what is it? I think there are some types of kawaii so I will introduce them each.
・Harajuku type
Harajuku is the name of the city/area in Tokyo. There are many young people, and it is one of the sources of kawaii culture. An example could be Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. She is a singer, and her fashion is very unique and colorful most of the time. Pictures should give you some images for this type of kawaii.
・Akihabara type
Another kawaii is Akihabara type. Akihabara is also the city/area name in Tokyo. The area is famous for electronics, but they also have many idols like AKB 48 and their fans. There are also many cafes called “maid cafes” and servers who wear kawaii clothes. I am pretty sure that the word “otaku” was born in Akihabara.
・Characters type
This might include Pokemon, Hello Kitty or even anime characters. These days, Sumikko Gurashi is in trend I think, and we usually have mascot characters in each city or prefecture! Mito city in Ibaraki where our headquarter is located has this Mito-chan. Can you guess where her design came from? It is Natto (fermented soybeans) because Mito is famous for Natto.
