3 tips to make good relationships with Japanese people
“How can I make Japanese friends?”
“How can I build good connections with Japanese people in business?”.
You might have thought about it at least once. It is very difficult to make good relationships in different countries. There are some common ways to communicate in any countries, but there are also country-specific ways to communicate based on the culture and the custom. Today, I would like to introduce 3 tips to make good relationships with Japanese people.
1, Politeness
It is said that Japanese people are not friendly compared to other countries, especially western countries. This is because they tend to see how reliable the person is first time they lay eyes on someone. In other words, they are cautious of strangers. Therefore, showing your politeness is a key to relax their cautiousness. As an example, bowing is a very good way to show your politeness.
2, Modesty
Japanese people tend to prefer people who are humble, especially in business scenes. I have a good example to express this culture. In Japan, when giving gifts to people, they say “I hope you will accept this unworthy gift”. This is said to show their respect towards the other person.
3, Diligency
This is mainly important in business scenes. Japanese people are known for their diligence. Diligence becomes trust. It is also said that Japanese people work too hard (I agree with the idea), but if you keep diligent for your job, you can gradually get trust from others and make good relationships with them.
To make good relationships with local people in other countries, it is important to understand their personality and culture well. If you keep polite, modest, and diligent, people around you will trust and approach to you.
