Unknown vacation spot in Japan-Nagaoka
Nagaoka city is located in Niigata prefecture with 264,611 people. It has lots of amazing and little known spots and events. I would like to introduce some of them you should experience when you travel in Nagaoka.
1. Nagaoka Fireworks
Nagaoka fireworks is one of the most popular and beautiful fireworks in japan. The event is held on Aug 2nd and 3rd every year which are the dates Nagaoka was destroyed by air raids in the World War 2. Not to forget the tragic event and to wish the reconstruction, the event started in 1879. Even though lots of residents were against the event at first because the sound of fireworks reminded them of the air-raids, it has been gradually accepted and many celebrities visit to watch it today.
2. The sea of Japan
You can see the beautifel sea of Japan in Teradomari town in Nagaoka. When it is sunny, you can see Sado irland and the countries on the other side of the sea. In additon, there are lots of sea-food shops and restraunts by the seaside.
3, Yamamoto Isoroku Museum
Yamamoto Isoroku is a historic person who was a Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet in the World War 2. He was from Nagaoka and you can see various documents and objects related to him at the museum. The drama about his life just started yesterday (Dec 30th JPT), so check it out!
